#35 Successful Martha's Vineyard Trip

My trip to Oak Bluffs, Martha's Vineyard for the "Cottagers' 9th Annual African American Cultural Festival" was a success, making it an ideal work vacation.

Thank goodness that the ferry ride from New Bedford to the Vineyard was no indication of how the weekend would go because it was uncomfortably rough on the high seas. There was bad weather brewing near by, which meant  angry surfs and in turn a hell of a rocky ride leaving my stomach in knots. The ride was so rough that the ferry was temporarily out of commission and had to undergo maintenance which meant that the next scheduled ferry from NB had to be canceled (so glad hubby and I took the earlier ferry)

Anyway with that behind us we arrived at the venue and everything went smoothly except for the weather which was chilly and overcast threatening rain. I was a little disappointed as I was hoping for bright blue skies and hot rays of sunshine - until someone mentioned that the weather was perfect because it would bring the public off the beaches and to the festival. Brilliant assumption indeed - and so was the case as people streamed in constant flow enjoying the art, performances, food and scheduled talks.

I was very thrilled by the overwhelming response my work received  as I made several contacts and sales as well as booked future projects and exhibits. So all in all the weekend was a blast - even though on the last day just before we returned to New Bedford on the ferry we got  totally soaked in the rain. My mother would say it was all the blessings I received that weekend - and that was so very true.
