Preparing for a studio sale is both daunting and exciting at the same time especially a studio moving sale because you are unearthing everything you've ever made.
Who would know I had so much work? I actually pride myself on being a very prolific artist but wow this is definitely a task. On the other hand it opens up worlds of memories to the past like where was I living at the time of making a specific piece? or how old was I? Was this piece done before or after undergrad or during grad school? was I going through a breakup or in love, angry, sad or indifferent? Some pieces made me laugh out loud and others... made me cry. Some even left me in awe of how they were actually created - I call those my divine intervention pieces.
Well So far I have mounted some artwork on a couple walls and currently in the middle of sorting a hefty pile of works on paper. Yesterday i broke a frame and that some how seems to be the norm when ever i clear out my studio for a studio sale- i guess its good luck :-) There was lots of hammering and climbing on and off ladders - but all in all it is shaping along well - step by step getting ready for the weekend. Lots of work but...Very exciting :-)
