What is your favorite Alison Wells Art series? And-which one would you like to see more of ? A. Caribbean Themed Paintings: http://www.alisonwells.com/totems.html B. Paper Collages: http://www.alisonwells.com/collage-02740.html C. Underground Railroad Collage Paintings: http://www.alisonwells.com/underground-railroad.html D. Urban Organic: http://www.alisonwells.com/urban-organic.html Do Artists find themselves getting overly attached to a particular piece of artwork??? I think the answer is Yes and No and it is definitely Bittersweet. For me there are many reasons- here are a few yeys and neys:
- Sometimes certain paintings are so personal that as an artist I feel like I cannot let go. -Sometimes a painting may take on a whole life of it’s own and constantly have me in awe of it’s beauty and energy which feels as if it was created through me and not from me. As weird as it sounds these pieces are highly spiritual and therefore are difficult to release. -Sometimes "Time" helps me disconnect from my work. The longer the work hangs in my studio the better it becomes for me to release it with love. -Sometimes I become super critical of my own work and though, a professional finished product is produced - I still cannot bear to see it. Something that may appear ugly to me is beautiful to others and in that case I am happy to see them go to a loving home. With all of that said and done I always believe that my talent and ability is a gift - A gift not only for me as the artist but also a gift to others. While I get great personal pleasure and accomplishment from creating my paintings, they do me no good once they are finished and are just hanging around in my studio. Yes I have favorites and a handful that I keep for myself but once the work is finished, the purpose of my work is to bring JOY to others. |
