Last night my Bristol Community College Students showcased their drawings at the Star Store (downtown New Bedford) for Aha Night. The students had a great time discussing their work with the many visitors, family members and friends that came to view the show.
Their exhibition "Birds Under City View" was a good demonstration of what this Spring13 Drawing-1 class has learnt during this semester. For most of these students this class was their first real introduction to drawing which shows the individual level of comprehension and drive within the class. The birds in the drawings were drawn from direct observation, courtesy the UMass Dartmouth Natural History Cabinet, using a array of pencils, charcoal pencils, charcoal, conte sticks, chamois, ink washes and paper collage within a full range of value (light and dark).
Working on this exhibit was an exciting project for these students as they were able to utilize the knowledge they acquired throughout the semester, giving them a sense of pride and accomplishment. Thank you to everyone who made this possible.
