Yesterday's opening was fantastic, the work is contemporary, edgy and relevant as the participating artists took this theme to its endless possibilities and back. From Paintings to sculptures to instillations to video art the works on display range widely in terms of subject matter like the fishing industry, pollution, immigration, culture and personal histories.
This extensive and well planned exhibition is curated by Kim Barry, Willoughby Elliott, and Lasse Antonsen who invited artists to create thematic work inspired by the New Bedford harbor, history and culture.
The second venue will be at The University Art Gallery at UMass Dartmouth Star Store. It opens its doors from May 21 with an Opening Reception on Thursday, June 13th Aha Night 6:00- 9:00pm.
