“New Bedford Harbor in a New Light,” An exhibit of recent work by forty local artists has begun. The artwork will be on display simultaneously at two venues. The first at The New Bedford Art Museum which opened its doors to this exquisite exhibit on May 9 AHA Night to 300 visitors and went over that figure at the Opening Reception yesterday May 11th.

Yesterday's opening was fantastic, the work is contemporary, edgy and relevant as the participating artists took this theme to its endless possibilities and back. From Paintings to sculptures to instillations to video art the works on display range widely in terms of subject matter like the fishing industry, pollution, immigration, culture and personal histories.

This extensive  and well planned exhibition is curated by Kim Barry, Willoughby Elliott, and Lasse Antonsen who invited artists to create thematic work inspired by the New Bedford harbor, history and culture.

The second venue will be at The University Art Gallery at UMass Dartmouth Star Store. It opens its doors from May 21 with an Opening Reception on Thursday, June 13th Aha Night 6:00- 9:00pm. My piece "The Other Side of the Harbor" that I have been mentioning in my previous blogs will be at this venue.

Below is a list of artists exhibiting at the two venues for " New Bedford Harbor in a New Light"
