When I graduated from UMASS with my masters in Fine Arts 7 years ago I didn't paint for 9 months. It is a hard transition physically, mentally and emotionally after you graduate from college (especially with an art degree) - but the physical hardship was the worse No Where to paint! -and that led to the mental and emotional stress. After leaving the schools incredible studio spaces that looked out over Union St and a small section of the harbor, painting in my bedroom was just not cutting it. :-/ so in April 2008 I took the bold step to rent an art studio in the Cummings building. My space was perfect - though tiny it was the largest studio space I ever had the pleasure to work in. It actually looked empty and neat when I just moved in but it quickly grew as my creative energy soared high - thanks to my very first studio in New Bedford - my magical Red Room.
